Mountain Nest Homes are compact, sustainably built dwellings designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing comfort and connection to the natural world. Crafted from natural and locally sourced materials — such as timber, straw bale, clay, and stone — these buildings are built to breathe, regulate temperature naturally, and leave a gentle footprint on the land they rest upon.
Craftsman And Designer
Originally from New Jersey, Fred has called Colorado home since attending the University of Colorado at Boulder from 2007-2011. Through his major in Geography and a focus on sustainable human development he gravitated towards our built environment and the spaces we call home. His learning journey took him to Brazil for a Permaculture designers certificate as well as Oregon for an apprenticeship in natural building techniques. In the past ten years he has dedicated himself to a life of carpentry and design with a specific focus on traditional furniture, timber framing, cabinet building and finish/trim carpentry. In 2018 he completed training to become an affiliate builder for EcoNest Homes specializing in Japanese timber frames and light straw clay walls. From 2017-2020 Fred worked as a lead carpenter at Simblissity Tiny Homes where he completed all phases of the builds and helped design many interior features of the homes. Since starting the company in 2020 Fred has continued to learn as both a craftsman and designer and has grown Mojo Woodworks into a team that can handle a wide range of projects including full kitchen and bath cabinetry, libraries, custom built-ins, and specialty millwork for both commercial and residential spaces.
